ORACLE for UNIX System Administrators
This 3-day workshop presents an overview of ORACLE 7 architecture and objects for
experienced UNIX System Administrators. It is intended for those who need to
understand ORACLE from a support administration and troubleshooting perspective.
The workshop will focus on overall architecture, database objects,
backup/recovery, Client/Server features including SQL*NET, user administration
and security, efficiencies and troubleshooting.
This workshop is a combination of lecture material and demo’s, with ample
time for student questions and answers.
Who Should Attend
UNIX System Administrators. Experience with another relational database is
desirable, but not necessary.
Workshop Objectives:
- Define key ORACLE terminology such as instances, tables, locks.
- Create ORACLE databases and understand the underlying memory and catalog
structures.
- Describe the physical organization of ORACLE databases.
- Understand the backup recovery process including Rollback Segments and
Redo Logs and how to run commands or utilities to perform basic ORACLE user
management, database security, and backup/recovery functions.
