DB2 Advanced Workshop
This 4-day workshop is intended to strengthen existing DB2 database skills in
such areas as: DB2 objects, database utilities, cursor processing, Dynamic SQL,
stored procedures, commit and locking issues, physical data management, and
performance issues. This is not an introductory workshop, but rather an
advanced presentation that explores the nuances, tricks, and pitfalls of DB2
development.
Who Should Attend
Applications programmers, database administrators, and technical support
people.
Prerequisites
Completion of a basic DB2 workshop such as DB2 For Application Programmers
or equivalent on-the-job experience.
Workshop Objectives:
- Describe the different DB2 objects, choosing the correct physical design
options with performance in mind.
- Understand when and how to execute DB2 database utilities such as LOAD,
RUNSTATS, and REORG.
- Write application programs and bind options which use locks and cursors
efficiently.
- Use EXPLAIN to tune application queries.
- Know when and how to use advanced application features such as Dynamic
SQL, stored procedures, and triggers.
