DB2 for Application Programmers
This all-in-one workshop provides the application programmer with all the
knowledge needed to implement programs interacting with DB2 Relational Databases
in an OS/390 environment. COBOL considerations for both interactive and embedded
DB2 environments are covered. Workshop emphasis is on SQL data manipulation
language, and embedded SQL programming techniques. Some discussion of efficient
database design and DB2 Locking and Authorization Logic is also provided.
This is a 5-day workshop, which includes the DB2 overview module. This
workshop can be taught at the version of DB2 utilized within your corporation.
Who Should Attend
Application programmers responsible for producing DB2 applications. No
prior knowledge of DB2 or SQL is assumed. Students should already be
familiar with COBOL or COBOL II and the environment they will interface with
(e.g. TSO, CICS, or IMS/DC).
Workshop Objectives:
- Code SQL to multiple DB2 data.
- Embed SQL statements inside a COBOL program.
- Use DBL statements to test applications.
