Solaris Platform Management


This 5-day hands-on workshop is designed to provide participants with necessary knowledge to install, set-up, and maintain Solaris operating systems.

Participants will perform many guided and independent exercises.


Who Should Attend

Users who will be responsible for administering UNIX operating systems.


Prerequisites

UNIX commands and Utilities are a must. UNIX Shell programming is helpful.


Workshop Objectives:

  • Define the administrator’s responsibilities and duties.
  • Learn about system processes, and how they can be controlled and monitored.
  • Solaris operating system concept and layout.
  • Understand how to configure, modify and run Solaris UNIX administrator's files, directories and tools.
  • Manage users’ space and accounts.
  • Manage systems hardware and software.
  • Manage system peripherals.
  • Startup and shutdown of the system and processes.
  • Analyze system resources and peripherals.
  • Install and configure the Solaris Operating System.
  • Set-up system network files and devices.
  • Monitor network traffic and processes.
