UNIX Commands and Utilities
This 5-day hands-on workshop is designed to provide users and programmers with
UNIX commands and utilities. Most of the software on UNIX is treated as tools;
i.e., single purpose programs, which share processing conventions and can be
used alone or in combination, as needed.
UNIX provides an excellent programming environment, text-processing
facilities, and a platform for multi-user applications.

Users that will be working on the UNIX platform.
Workshop Objectives:
- Become familiar with the different UNIX platforms, history of UNIX, access
and command syntax.
- Use different types of access and understand terminal display.
- Understand UNIX file systems, file types and file security.
- Learn the basic UNIX commands.
- Navigate the file system; create and delete files and links.
- Identify, locate, and communicate with users on the system or network.
- Understand the UNIX Shells and manipulate data input and output.
- Use the Shell variables, command substitution and quoting mechanisms.
- Master the UNIX commonly used commands.
- Learn to communicate with other users by using UNIX, talk, write, and
mail.
- Understand UNIX Jobs and Job Control.
- Learn about UNIX network tools.
