UNIX Shell Programming
This 5-day hands-on workshop is designed
to provide UNIX users and programmers with the ability to develop shell programs
(scripts) to perform various tasks in meeting their on-the-job needs.
Participants will learn UNIX commands and understand how the shell processes
them. They will then use these commands to create scripts. Debugging techniques
and basic system administration functions will also be covered.
Participants will perform many guided and independent
exercises. The independent exercises consist of designing, creating, debugging,
and executing tasks assigned by the instructor.
Who Should Attend
Power-users and programmers who need to develop scripts to
automate tasks.
Prerequisites
Some familiarity with programming is
desired.

manipulation commands.

branching, iteration, subshells, and functions.
