.NET Windows Forms Development
Windows Forms, or WinForms, are a set of .NET Framework classes that contain
prefabricated Graphical User Interface (GUI) controls. These controls, combined
with the Object-Oriented nature of .NET, enable rapid development of user
windows. In addition, Visual Studio's interface for quickly designing window
layouts and programming events on controls has been enhanced in Visual Studio
.NET and is now available to all VS.NET languages, not just Visual Basic.
This 3-day hands-on class covers the details of built-in controls from the
simple Button and CheckBox to the complex TreeView and multiple-select ListBox.
Students will learn how to extend built-in classes, combine controls into
"user controls," and create totally new custom controls. The class
will also discuss displaying data from ADO.NET data sources and working with
ActiveX controls.
NOTE: This class can be taught with either Visual Basic .NET or C#.
Who Should Attend
This class is aimed at .NET developers who want to build robust graphical
user interfaces using the advanced features of WinForms and .NET.
Prerequisites
Students are expected to understand .NET basic concepts and to know the
language in which the class is taught. Some experience with WinForms and Visual
Studio .NET is helpful but not necessary.
Workshop Objectives:
- Design user windows using built-in WinForms controls.
- Learn tricks for configuring and extending advanced controls.
- Combine controls into reusable User Control components.
- Use GDI+ pens and brushes to paint custom images.
- Create Multiple Document Interface (MDI) applications.
- Incorporate ActiveX controls into your .NET clients.
- Implement custom controls.
